The Y50 Fuga (sold as the Infiniti M35 and M45 in some markets) is a great car to tune and a hard one to find tools for. VQLab was built on a Fuga 450GT, and the Fuga's ECU software is the most fully decoded of any car VQLab supports.
Which Fuga ECUs are supported
- EH20D: Fuga 450GT, VK45DE.
- EG01E and EG03E: Fuga 350GT, VQ35DE.
- EJ78D and EJ79A: 2008 Fuga 350GT (PY50), VQ35HR.
You don't need to know yours in advance: VQLab Lite reads the software ID from the ECU when it connects and tells you whether it's supported.
What you can change
The usual maps are all there: ignition timing, fuel targets, rev and speed limiters, airflow (MAF) scaling, injector settings and cam timing. Which maps are available depends on the exact ECU software version. Everything is shown as heatmap grids you can edit by hand, with undo, compare and smoothing.
Fuga-only extras
- Map switching: three complete tunes in the ECU at once, for example a daily, a 98-octane and a soft map. Hold cruise CANCEL for 2 seconds to switch; the check-engine lamp blinks the map number. Car-tested on the 450GT; experimental on the 350GT.
- Idle lope (450GT): a "cammed" idle, set per map.
- NATS delete (450GT ECU, experimental): for VK45DE engine swaps without the original key and immobiliser. Not for road cars.
How to start
- Get a CH340 K-line cable (which one).
- Back up your ECU with VQLab Lite (free).
- Open the backup and look through your maps.
- When you're ready to change and flash them, get Pro.
